The two Singapore recipients were among 20 scholarship recipients from across the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa. In addition to the opportunity to further their education, both recipients will be part of a mentorship network, which will form a key part of their program experience. Shereen and Karina were welcomed into the alumni by Nicole Tan, Director of Catering Sales, at the Raffles City Convention Centre and Magdalene Chia, a licensed Tourism Ambassador with the Singapore Tourism Board and Director of Educalc.net , a regional distribution company. Nicole and Magdalene are both Singapore recipients of the MasterCard-U21Global scholarships awarded for the program last year.

The scholarship gives both women the opportunity to pursue the Executive Diploma of Business Administration with U21Global, the world?s premier online Graduate School. This is the second consecutive year that MasterCard and U21Global are collaborating to offer this scholarship program, which is open to women professionals in the travel and tourism industry across the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa. A total of 20 scholarships have been awarded each year. This year, recipients hailed from markets, such as the Philippines, New Zealand, Australia, Korea, India, Malaysia and Singapore.

The MasterCard Worldwide-U21Global Scholarship Program for Women in Travel and Tourism was introduced last year with the aim of empowering working women professionals in the travel and tourism industry to stay ahead of industry trends and realize their full potential. The program focuses on diverse aspects of tourism management and helps build a broad understanding of management principles and practices as they apply in the tourism and travel industries. The course has been developed by Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute, a part of Nottingham University Business School and U21Global, a leader in offering quality graduate online education to working executives and professionals.
